Aspire Nautilus from Total Evapes

I've been waiting impatiently to get my hands on one of these. They are so popular most vendors are out of stock almost as fast as they get delivery. The great guys at Total Evapes made this happen. 

The tank itself is all glass and is an unusual design with the top of the tank form shaped with the logo clearly imprinted in gold lettering. The metal is brushed stainless stell look with a diameter of 22 mm (0.87 in.). What sets this apart from others is a 5 ml capacity and air flow control – and if I might add, superb quality.

The Aspire clearomizers and coils lead the industry, of that there is no doubt. The Aspire Nautilus carries that tradition through with solid construction, smooth threads ... but more important is how this Nautilus performs. The Aspire Nautilus is fully compatible with the new Aspire BVC (Bottom Vertical Coil) coils. The BVC coils are absolutely incredible and render flavor exceptionally well and provide outstanding throat hit. 

I first used this on a Cool Fire 1 ... the two seem to be made for each other.  I had to take a picture just to show you. I really like how the Nautilus sits on the Cool Fire 1 with both just a perfect fit.

I set the air flow to the smallest air vent possible. I like a tight draw ... and from the very first, this was absolutely excellent. Aspire make some great tanks and I own quite a few of them. I really like the construction, leak-free designs, and coils that seems to last and last. But, the Nautilus beats them all. This is a smooth draw, really smooth. No "air sucking" noise, none at all. You get to "dial in" whatever draw you feel comfortable with, airy or tight. There are four settings – you turn the dial at the bottom of the Nautilus and match the air flow hole you want. It has a "detent" type system and the dial stays put after you make your selection. 

The 5 ml capacity will be greater than most vapers need, meaning that you can vape all day without the need to refill. Think about it, no need to bring any spare bottles of eLiquid with you all over the place. The tank itself refills from the bottom with a huge space that will accommodate even the biggest eLiquid bottle tip, again, no need for any special "needle" bottles. 

The drip tip is a standard 510 design and comfortable. If you don't like it, it is easily to replace, but I can't see anyone doing that with this one.

It is easy to see why the Aspire Nautilus is so hard to find in stock. It's likely to last you darn near forever and satisfy every minute of that time. 

The bottom portion is also an unusual design. At first, I thought that white area was a silicone based threading system. That is just a silicone seal. The threads are actually on the center air flow tube and absolutely solid. As you thread the bottom, the silicone is pulled up against the glass tank and forms a ideal seal. The entire tank is rebuildable if needed, with available tanks, and parts.

Aspire have also released different tanks and tank shrouds. The "shroud" is a great looking piece that protects the glass tank yet still shows the remaining liquid in the tank.

As mentioned above, don't wait. This is one unit you should have – not only in your kit, but sitting actively used on your eCig.

Total Evapes has good pricing on this unit and carry the Aspire BVC coils. If you are fortunate to live in the GTA, you can also arrange for pick up and avoid shipping wait times and costs.

Update July 28 2014: The original Nautilus BDC (bottom dual coil) coils were not that great. At best they lasted me between 3-5 days from one (regular vaping, former one-pack-a-day smoker) before the flavor has a distinct "burnt" taste to it. I was disappointed in the Nautilus with these original BDC coils. With the new BVC (bottom vertical coil), the Nautilus is a must have clearomizer. The combination is incredible.

Update November 02 2014: I have modified the Nautilus slightly and now am about 99.9% to the perfect tank. The four standard air flow holes are: 0.9 mm, 1.1 mm, 1.4 mm, and 1.8 mm. Roughly one week ago, I drilled out the largest air hole to 2.9 mm. That was good, but not quite there. Today I found a wider bore drip tip with the inner air chamber about 50% larger than the stock Nautilus drip tip. The drip tip also has a slanted cover that fits the top of the Nautilus chimney perfectly. I decided to drill out the large air hole again, this time to 3.4 mm. It's ideal, nice wide open air flow. And, there's a benefit to the BVC coil too. With the largest standard air hole (1.8 mm), the BVC coil on the Nautilus is limited to 13-15 watts. With the 2.9 mm hole, the Nautilus/BVC can handle up to 20 watts. At 3.4 mm, the coil easily gets to 21.5 mm. That's about the limit since it is a 2.1 ohm coil – but it is still a cloud machine with the wider 3.4 mm hole. No leaking, no gurgling. The only effect of drilling out the larger air hole is that the air flow control ring is restricted in movement (likely from drilling artifacts).
