Lrider Mini Lambo V3
Lrider launched their Lambo line several months ago. Initially included were:
- Lambo 6.0, an 18650 20 Watt device supporting Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage
- Mini Lambo, a 14500 device supporting Variable Voltage – an eGo sized system with replaceable battery
They also have a number of devices that carry different names (Robust A, Lrider EVOD, Lrider eGo). Lrider Technology is the company behind the Lavatube that has been copied (over and over and over again) and is the forerunner of the 14000 and 18000 series of changeable battery systems.
The Lambo is a solid series that are well designed, and well built. When I originally reviewed the Lambo 6.0, I was quite taken with it and ended up giving it as a special gift for a contest. It took a few months to get another one, but I am thoroughly satisfied with the vaping experience using the Lambo 6.0. It certainly was one of the first 20 watt devices available and delivered exceptionally well on variable voltage and wattage – smoothly and accurately.
The original Mini Lambo is still available. A superb strategy for the individual looking for an all day vape and not wanting to carry multiple eGo systems around to last. The Mini Lambo featured a changeable battery system based on the IMR 14500 battery supplied wiht the kit. At a rated 700 mAh, the Mini Lambo would last a good 6.5 to 7 hours before needing a battery replacement. Instead of an eGo style battery, all you need is a much smaller 14500 battery. Swap it in mere seconds and you are back to vaping.
This new Mini Lambo V3 features a built-in 1300 mAh battery. At 1300 mAh, this will last you through the drive to work and back, and a full work day as well. It has the same form factor as the original Mini Lambo with an eGo style firing button, bright LED display, and + and - buttons to increase/decrease the variable voltage in 0.1 volt increments. And an excellent voltage range too, from 3.0 volts to 6.0 volts. This is a considerable improvement over eGo and EVOD spinners that max out at 4.8 volts.
Clicking the buttons is a bit of a unusual configuration if you are used to other brands. Lrider follow their own path with user interface:
- Press and hold the - button for five seconds to power on the device, again for five seconds to power off the device.
- Press and hold the + and - button simultaneously for two seconds to "lock" the device, again for two seconds to "unlock"
- Press and hold the + button for two seconds to display the remaining battery level (charge).
- Rapidly press the firing button five times in less than two seconds to display the atomizer resistance (coil ohms).
This is an upgrade to those using an eGo or EVOD battery and includes a user manual only. It uses the same type of charger as eGo and EVOD batteries, though. If you are like me, you probably already have several of those. They attach through the 510 connector at the top of the battery.
Note in the picture this is complete with an attractive straight beauty ring. This is ideal and will suit the new trends towards 510-only connector clearomizers that have launched recently. The beauty ring has small slots in the top to provide air flow (matching air flow slots in the 510 connector) for those clearomizers that have air flow through the center 510 connector. The slots are unobtrusive – if you have a clearomizer with air flow through the sides of the base, the look will still be great!
This is a distinctive upgrade for anyone trying to move up from an eGo or EVOD style battery to get better performance and longer lasting battery. With the wide range of compatibility, it will work with all of the clearomizers and atomizers you currently have. And, it looks slick and elegant.
So, what's the verdict? Is it worth it? It is difficult for anyone reasonably new to vaping to decide how to upgrade. You want better flavor, longer lasting batteries ... but you don't want to give up on the investments already made in battery chargers, clearomizers, atomizers, coils, etc. The Mini Lambo V3 is a distinct step up from the spinner or twister style batteries available. All of those are limited to either 4.2 or 4.8 volts. The Mini Lambo V3 expands that range significantly to 6.0 volts and with a circuitry that yields a very smooth vape experience. I am at a slight disadvantage in recommending this: this is a pre-release version and I have no idea what the retail price will be. I also do not know what the wholesale price is, and can't extrapolate what the retails might be. Lrider Technology products, though, are always quite reasonably priced. With this level of build quality and phenomenal capabilities, it is worth watching out for and adding to your vape gear.
